Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Over the past 6 weeks, the team have been listening to the views of people who use Stratford Station and the surrounding area. There have been in-person events at different locations as well as the online consultation. Lots of people have let us know what they think about the plans for the future of the Stratford Station area.

The consultation is now closed and over 12,000 people visited the consultation online or in-person and over 1100 people took the time to respond. Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part. We are inspired by the level of engagement.

Among the themes covered, people told us their preferences for which connections for walking, cycling and active travel they would most like to see improved. We also heard views on improvements to the train and bus stations as well what matters most about bridges, streets and open spaces. Lots of people also let us know their opinions on new jobs, shops and homes.

We are now working hard on analysing the results and we will be keeping you updated through this site so please sign up for the latest news to stay informed.

    So far we have heard that 30% of people say community facilities, leisure and space suitable for all including arts and cultural is most important to them, do you agree? Fewest people say education spaces and uses that provide job opportunities for all is important to them. Would you like to see new job opportunities near Stratford Station?     There is still time to have your say!

    Over the past few weeks, we have been hearing from people about their thoughts on the future of Stratford Station and the surrounding area. We held events and have been engaging with people online. Special thanks to the management teams of Stratford Station, Westfield, and the Stratford Centre for supporting our events. It has been very inspiring to see the level of interest in the future of Stratford Station.

  • We have been thinking about ideas for improving connections between people, homes and jobs.

    • Which route would you like to see created or improved?

    WHAT DO YOU THINK OF OUR IDEAS?

    Since 2021 Newham Council have been working in partnership with London Legacy Development Corporation, Transport for London and Network Rail to think about the future of Stratford Station and the surrounding area..

    We spoke to you in September 2021 and we heard that many people would like to see improvements. We know there are some measures needed right now to improve the train station and we are working on these. We are also developing ideas about the longer-term future of Station Quarter from 2030s onwards. We would like to know what you think about these ideas.

    In Person Consultations

    Since we spoke to you in September 2021 we have been working to develop ideas about the future of Stratford Station. We would like to know what you think.

    You can let us know what you think by clicking here or attending one of our events.

    Our events are free to attend and everyone is welcome. They will be happening on:

  • Saturday 8th October: 8am-6pm at Westfield Shopping Centre – We will be on the 1st floor, opposite Bubbleology and Amorino

    What have we learnt so far?

    When we spoke to you last time, in September 2021, you told us lots about what you would like.

    We heard you would like people, homes and jobs to be better connected

  • Getting around Stratford Station and the surrounding neighbourhood, so it is fully accessible for everyone is a priority.

    • We heard you would like better train and bus station facilities

  • Moving around the station to be more enjoyable and a more accessible transport interchange
  • Better connections to help you find your way around, alongside better lighting and toilet facilities.
  • More support for walking and cycling as well as making it easier to catch a bus or train.

    • We heard you would like new bridges, streets and open spaces

  • More seating and places to spend time with family and friends.
  • Reduced pollution and improved air quality, as well as a clean station environment with more trees and plants to support wildlife.
  • Moving around the station and surrounding neighbourhood to be easy if you are cycling or can’t use steps.
  • The station, surrounding streets and spaces to be enjoyable at all times of the day and across the year.

    • We heard you would like more jobs and homes

  • Stratford to continue being a thriving town centre, and enjoyable for everyone across the year
  • More independent shops, food markets, and cultural events to experience
  • Opportunities for people to learn new skills, access jobs and thrive.

    THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING

    Over the past week, the Stratford Station consultation team have been out talking to residents, visitors, commuters, and workers in the area. Interactive engagements at different locations have allowed the team to get a clearer idea of how people use the current station, as well as what they want to see in the future.

    Through questions ranging from what station people used to arrive, to how Stratford can serve the local community better, it’s been great to hear the views of Stratford’s enthusiastic and diverse population.

    Among the themes covered, people have demonstrated a desire for an inclusive design that encourages the local community to take ownership of the station and its surroundings. Alongside this, many participants praised the station in its current form, while also stressing the need for changes to the layout and facilities.

    It has been very inspiring to see the level of interest in the project, and the consultation team are looking forward to coming back in November with proposals and ideas, so that the discussion can continue.

    Special thanks to the management teams of Stratford Station, Westfield, and the Stratford Centre for supporting the consultations.
